Nosy Possum Editing Services

Pattern & Product Editing, Proofreading & Writing

Hi! My name is Kelsey. I’m a professional technical writer and editor by trade with experience in the e-commerce and cybersecurity industries, along with a deep love for all things handmade!I offer editing, proofreading, and writing services for a variety of creative things! This includes: sewing patterns, plushies, fursuit patterns, cosplay write-ups, crochet patterns and anything in between. By combining professional technical writing expertise with a maker’s eye, I help designers create clear, accessible, and polished instructions that inspire confidence in their customers.

I’ve spent the last 10 years honing my crafts, creating everything from clothing and bags to dog accessories and plushies. I’ve also worked as a pattern tester and have hands-on experience writing clear, step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow. I combine my professional background in tech writing with my maker mindset to help fellow creatives polish their sewing and crochet patterns so they are clear, professional, and ready to share with the world.I offer editing and writing services for makers and designers who want their patterns to be not only polished but also accessible and easy to follow. Whether you're drafting a sewing pattern, a crochet tutorial, or something in between, I can help refine your instructions and suggest visuals like step-by-step photos or diagrams to support different learning styles. My goal is to help you create patterns that reflect your creativity and are a joy for others to use.As a disabled LGBTQIA+ artist, I understand firsthand how important accessibility and inclusion are in the maker community. I approach every project with empathy and care, aiming to help creatives design patterns that welcome a wide range of skill levels, learning styles, and abilities. Clear communication, thoughtful design, and representation matter—and I’m here to support you in bringing that to your work.I have hands on experience in the following:

  • Pattern editing

  • Accessibility edits

  • Crochet stitch counts

  • Etsy/Website/Social Media/Patreon post reviews and rewrites

  • Ghostwriting services (social media, blog posts, even resumes)

What is your turn around time?

My turnaround time varies depending on the difficulty and length of pattern, my workload (I do IT documentation professionally!), and my availability. Typically, I try to have the initial edit back to you within 3-5 days.

Should my pattern be tested first?

No, pattern testing should happen after we work together to create a successful pattern. You would then send a completed pattern to your testers. If you work with testers and find you'd like to make a change post edit, we can absolutely do that.

How does it work?

First we start with initial meeting to understand your pattern (or post), needs and expectations.Next I'll review what we discussed and send an estimate based on time and effort to review.Once you have agreed to my rate and services, we will work together to create your final pattern and design to fit your business and style!

What's the cost?

I charge $5 for every 10-mins I edit your pattern. There is a minimum charge of 60 min, which is $30. An estimate will be sent prior to work starting with an estimated amount of time it should take me to complete the work.

What if I need edits after testing is complete?

All edits include post testing changes at no charge!
